QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE Lose EAGLES OF DEATH METAL As Openers
March 3, 2005Launch Radio Networks is reporting that the highly anticipated concert pairing of QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE and the EAGLES OF DEATH METAL will not happen — at least not in the coming weeks, as originally planned. The EAGLES have dropped off the QUEENS tour for financial reasons, according to QUEENS leader Josh Homme, who also runs the EAGLES' record label. Homme told Launch, "We can't afford it, man. In this incestuous triangle of stuff we got here, it's like robbing Peter to pay Paul here. It's a total bummer, and everyone's distraught over it. I hate it that something couldn't happen 'cause we can't afford to do it. It just sucks."
The EAGLES were set to open on the QUEENS' North American tour in support the latter's new album, "Lullabies to Paralyze". The tour kicks off March 15 in Austin, Texas, with the album arriving in stores on March 22.
Homme, who played drums on the first EAGLES OF DEATH METAL album under the pseudonym Carlo Von Sexron, did leave open the possibility that the two groups may tour together later in the year, when the QUEENS mount a longer road trip. Homme is no longer a full-time part of the EAGLES' lineup, however.
EAGLES OF DEATH METAL are finishing work on their second album, tentatively titled "Death By Sexy".
